Ms. Barbara Barungi is a management consultant and economist with an impressive Pan Africa network. She is an expert in complex African economies, development finance and Public policy. She serves as an Independent Non-Executive Director on the Board of Access Bank South Africa , Access Bank Kenya. and Airtel Mobile Commerce Limited Malawi.
Ms. Barungi has over 20 years’ experience as a development practitioner and previously worked at the African Development Bank as the Lead Economist for Nigeria. Prior to that she was at the UNDP Africa Bureau in New York where she served as a macroeconomist on Africa. She had previously worked for UNDP Southern Africa in Johannesburg and covered Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Zimbabwe. She also had a brief stint as an advisor to the Ministry of Finance in Rwanda and has taught economics at Makerere University (Uganda) and Witswatersrand University ( South Africa). She holds an Mphil. International Finance ( Glasgow University) and BA ( Hons) Economics from Makerere University.
