Ejemen Okojie

Ejemen is the Director, Organizational Development and Talent Management for IHS (Nigeria) Limited, one of the world’s largest independent owners, operators, and developers of shared communications infrastructure. Before joining IHS, she was the Founder/Managing Partner of Vel Triplum Limited, an HR startup advisory firm focused on building healthy and human-centric organizations one leader at a time to deliver business outcomes in a never-normal world of work. Until recently, she was also the Chief Human Capital Officer (CHCO) and Head of Corporate Services at Chapel Hill Denham, West Africa’s preeminent independent investment bank. She has over 25 years of experience across consulting, investment banking, digital industrial, fast-moving consumer goods and commercial banking sector.

As an Organization & Talent Development professional and intellectually curious global leader, she is passionate about developing talent, especially for Africa. In this regard, Ejemen has developed key competencies in HR Culture and Strategic Alignment, Performance Development and Coaching, Change Leadership, Career Development and Succession Planning, Talent Acquisition leveraging assessment/development centres and Global Leadership Acceleration/Development Programs from graduate to executive level to achieve localization and commercial targets.

She is a Certified HR Director from the Industrial Labor Relations School (ILR) Cornell, New York, Certified Change Practitioner-Prosci, Accredited Practitioner in Organization Culture- Hofstede Insight, Society for Human Resources Management-(Senior Certified Professional- US-SHRM- SCP) and certified with a Professional Assessment of Competence- Chartered Institute of Personnel Development UK- MCIPD.

She gained rich HR experience after spending five years in General Electric Africa (GE) in a variety of Sub-Saharan Africa regional roles and, at the time of her leaving, was part of the faculty of the widely acclaimed global corporate university – Crotonville, New York. Before GE, she worked in a global manufacturing company, British American Tobacco Nigeria –BAT, for nine years in both generalist and specialist roles as HR Business Partner and Area Head of Talent & Organizational Effectiveness. Both organizations had simple to complex matrix reporting structures and HR processes from startup to mature businesses focused on delivering shareholder value whilst creating a winning culture across diverse markets in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Ejemen’s experience as an HR Business Partner and CHCO proved quite invaluable in building a balanced sense of empathy, drive for alignment and execution for the organizations’ goals vis a vis the individual, team, and functional aspirations. Her international exposure includes an expatriate assignment in London and involvement in several regional global talent and leadership projects. Over the last few years, Ejemen has ventured into the field of coaching to build expertise as an executive and career transitions coach and, given the nature of the evolving digital world we live and work in, has gained exposure to the world of digital marketing leadership to understand what type of leaders will thrive in the future.

Ejemen studied Biochemistry and graduated magna cum laude and has extensive experience working and living throughout Africa, especially in West Africa. Her favourite pastimes include travelling, reading, and learning about global culture through comedy satire shows and documentaries. Ejemen also contributes to her local community by working with church and not-for-profit organizations, especially those that focus on children and women.
