Jobs, Economy & Trade: Africa Business Convention 2027

Today’s pillar spotlight is Jobs, Economy & Trade (JET), the commercial engine of AfCFTA: intra-African trade, enterprise development, and youth employment.

Africa traded an estimated $213.8 billion with itself in 2025, yet that is only about 15% of the continent’s total trade, compared with roughly 60% in Asia and nearly 70% in Europe. That gap is the opportunity. Afreximbank expects intra-African trade could double within a decade if AfCFTA is fully implemented.

Behind the JET pillar sits the youngest workforce on earth, entering the labour market faster than formal jobs are created. JET brings together the policymakers, employers, and skills institutions turning that trade agreement into real trade, and young people into productive work.

If your organisation works in jobs creation, youth employment, women empowerment, trade facilitation, and you’d like to explore what a JET partnership looks like, reply to this email reach out to adedoyin.dosumu@africabusinessconvention.com ifunanya.nduka@africabusinessconvention.com.
