In our last newsletter, we shared why Africa Trade is the theme of the Africa Business Convention 2027.
Trade, we argued, is the thread that connects investment, innovation, infrastructure, manufacturing, agriculture, finance, and jobs.
But that raises another important question.
What exactly is the Africa Business Convention?
The answer is simple.
It is not just another conference.
Across Africa, there is no shortage of events. Every year, policymakers, business leaders, investors, and entrepreneurs gather to discuss the continent’s opportunities and challenges. These conversations are valuable, but they are often fragmented, sector-specific, and disconnected from one another.
The Africa Business Convention was created to be different.
Our ambition is to build a platform where governments, businesses, investors, entrepreneurs, researchers, development partners, and young leaders come together to exchange ideas, forge partnerships, and shape practical solutions to Africa’s most important economic challenges.
It is designed not as a one-off event but as the beginning of a year-round community committed to advancing Africa’s growth and competitiveness.
To achieve this, the Convention brings together a series of flagship platforms, each serving a distinct purpose while contributing to a shared vision of Africa’s economic transformation.
Africa Trade Plenary
The Convention’s headline conversations, bringing together leading policymakers, business executives, and global thought leaders to examine the biggest issues shaping trade and economic competitiveness across Africa.
Policy Forums
Focused discussions on the reforms, regulations, and public policies that can strengthen investment, improve the business environment, and unlock regional trade.
Investment Forum
A meeting point for investors, businesses, development finance institutions, and project sponsors to explore opportunities, mobilize capital, and build partnerships across key sectors.
Strategic Pillar Forums
Dedicated sessions exploring the industries that will shape Africa’s future, including agriculture, finance, infrastructure, technology, manufacturing, tourism, sustainability, and the wider business ecosystem.
Innovation Showcase
A platform highlighting the entrepreneurs, innovators, and technology-driven businesses creating new solutions for African markets.
Africa Business Marketplace
An exhibition space where companies, institutions, and entrepreneurs can showcase products, services, technologies, and investment opportunities while building commercial relationships.
Executive Dialogues
Private, invitation-only conversations that encourage frank discussions between senior government officials, business leaders, and investors on issues of strategic importance.
Young Leaders Forum
Recognising that Africa’s future will be shaped by the next generation, the Convention will provide a platform for emerging leaders to exchange ideas, build networks, and contribute to the continent’s economic conversation.
Each of these platforms has a different purpose.
Together, they form a single ecosystem where ideas become partnerships, partnerships become investments, and investments become lasting impact.
That is the vision behind the Africa Business Convention.
It is not simply about what happens over two days.
It is about creating an institution that contributes to Africa’s economic transformation long after the closing session.
In the coming weeks, we will introduce more of the people, partnerships, and conversations that will define the 2027 Convention.
We hope you will join us from the very beginning.
